My name is Mur DeJonge, a 35+ year resident of Davidson County. I'm married to my lovely wife, Charity, and we have a blended family of six children and four grandchildren. We live on a small farm in Reedy Creek.
I am a U.S. Army retiree & combat veteran. I used my military benefits to study Organizational Leadership (Bachelors) and Healthcare Administration (Masters). My post-military career was in long-term care working in the nursing homes of Davidson County, lastly as the Director/Administrator at Curis Healthcare in Thomasville. I am now the full-time Connections Pastor at Heath Church in Lexington and I care about my community. My faith leads my decisions and my life.
I've been very involved with the community across the county for several years. I've served as the Commander of the Davidson County Veterans Council, Quartermaster of the VFW in Lexington, life member of AMVETS of Lexington, member of American Legion of Lexington, and past member of Davidson County Honor Guard. I've also served on the Energy United Member Advisory Committee and the Nursing Home & Adult Care Homes Community Advisory Committee.
As a Christian pastor, I am committed to serving our community and advocating for the best interests of our children. Running for the county school board, I aim to champion values that ensure our schools provide a safe, respectful, and academically enriching environment. My focus will be on promoting age-appropriate content, fostering strong moral and ethical foundations, and collaborating with parents and educators to enhance the educational experience for all students.
As you see, I've lived a life of public service. Whether it be our nation's defense, champion of the elderly, or the spiritual well-being of our community, I am ready to use my experience and leadership for the Davidson County School Board.
